WHO IT IS FOR
Snorkellers who want the fullest version of this trip. At four hours this is the longest of North Shore Catamaran Charters’ three sailings and it costs the same $139 as their three-hour afternoon snorkel, so if the time works it is straightforwardly better value. Passenger numbers are capped at 16 on a boat licensed to carry considerably more, which is the whole point: a peaceful snorkel away from the crowds, in clear water, with professionals in the water alongside you. All snorkel equipment is supplied on board, though you are welcome to bring your own. The reefs here host hundreds of species of fish and other marine life, and sea turtles are regularly seen near shore during the sail. Morning departures generally mean calmer, clearer water than the afternoon. You meet at North Shore Catamaran Charters, 66-105 Haleiwa Rd., Haleiwa, HI 96712.
Consider instead: the afternoon snorkel sail is the same $139 for three hours if a morning start does not suit. If you do not want to snorkel at all, the two-hour sail and cruise is $79 – but it only runs from October to 14 December.
