Hawaiian Activities isn’t just a booking website. We’re a small, passionate ohana that lives and breathes the Hawaiian islands. Founded by Jeff Gitlin, a former Lahaina, Maui resident with 25+ years as a show producer, cultural educator, and tour operator. Our company was born from a simple belief: everyone deserves to experience the magic of Hawaii without breaking the bank.
Jeff didn’t just visit Hawaii. He made it home. He’s produced live shows across the islands, taught lei making and hula, led star tours under Hawaiian skies, and shared island legends through torch-lighting ceremonies. Alongside Co-Founder Craig Halye, a marketing veteran with 35+ years of experience, we built the kind of company we’d want to book with ourselves.

Which Hawaiian island should I visit first?
Oahu is perfect for first-timers with its mix of culture, history (Pearl Harbor), and beautiful beaches. Maui is ideal for those seeking a balance of adventure and relaxation.
What's the best time of year to visit Hawaii?
April to May and September to October bring dry, warm weather, the thinnest crowds and shoulder-season prices. Go January to March for whales, or June to August for the calmest ocean for snorkeling. See the best time to visit Hawaii.
How far in advance should I book activities?
Book luaus and volcano day trips four to eight weeks ahead, helicopter tours and manta ray night snorkels two to four weeks ahead, boat tours and Pearl Harbor one to two weeks ahead, and surf lessons a few days ahead. Do tours include hotel pickup?
Many of our tours include hotel pickup from major resort areas. Each tour page lists its pickup details, including where and when you are collected.
How many days do you need in Hawaii?
Plan seven days for one island, ten for two and fourteen for three. Each island change costs most of a day in check-out, flights and a new rental car. With only four or five days, stay on one island and choose Oahu or Maui. See how many days you need in Hawaii.
Can you do a day trip to another Hawaiian island?
Yes. Inter-island day trips with flights included cost $399.99 to $1,499.99 per person. Seeing Oahu from Maui, Kauai or the Big Island is $459.99 for 11 to 12 hours, and a Kilauea volcano trip from Oahu starts at $1,190. See island-hopping day trips.
How much does a luau cost in Hawaii?
A luau costs $129 to $300 per adult in 2026, with an average of $191.57 across the 16 dinner luaus we compared. Oahu is the cheapest island at $129 to $169, and Maui has the most expensive. Child tickets run $82.71 to $148.40. See our Hawaii luau price guide.
Do you need to book Pearl Harbor tickets in advance?
The USS Arizona Memorial program is free but needs a timed reservation, released on Recreation.gov 56 days ahead for a $1 fee. Bags are not allowed on site. Guided tours that include the reservation start at $74 with hotel pickup. See our Pearl Harbor tours guide.
Is a helicopter tour in Hawaii worth it?
On Kauai, yes: about 70% of the island has no road, so a 50-minute flight shows you most of it. On the Big Island, flights reach active volcano areas when ground overlooks are closed. Oahu tours are scenic but the least essential. See helicopter tours by island.
Can you see lava in Hawaii?
Sometimes. Kilauea erupts in episodes lasting hours to days, with weeks of quiet between. When an episode is running, lava is visible from overlooks inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, best after dark. There is no lava viewing outside the park. See can you see lava in Hawaii.
Can you swim with sea turtles in Hawaii?

When is whale watching season in Hawaii?
Humpback whales are in Hawaii from roughly December to April, peaking in January and February. Maui has the most because its shallow channel is the main calving ground. Outside those months there are no humpbacks to see. See the whale watching season guide.
What are the cheapest things to do in Hawaii?
