Hawaiian Activities — island tours, luaus, and adventures across Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island.
Ten boats, four coasts and two completely different pricing models. The question is almost never which boat is best, but whether you are buying a seat or a vessel.
Quick Answer: Oahu boat tours split into per-seat tickets from $79 and whole-boat charters from $350 for six people. The charter maths is better than it looks: $350 for six is about $58 each, below every shared snorkel ticket on the island. Charters win from roughly four or five people upward.
TL;DR
- Cheapest seat: North Shore sail, $79 — but October to 14 December only.
- Best snorkel value: Morning catamaran, $139 for four hours, capped at 16 guests.
- Charter sweet spot: $350 for six — about $58 each.
- Divers: 3-tank charter, $635, wrecks, walls and pinnacles.
- Check the basis: Some listings are per person, some are the whole vessel.
Per seat or per boat? Run the numbers
This is the decision that actually saves money, and the listings do not make it obvious.
| Booking | Price | Basis | Per head at capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| North Shore sail (2 hrs) | $79 | Per person | $79 |
| Waikiki sunset + tasting | $105 | Per person | $105 |
| Morning snorkel sail (4 hrs) | $139 | Per person | $139 |
| Private charter (6) | $350 | Whole boat | ~$58 |
| Sunset party cruise | $500 | Whole boat | ~$83 |
| Ko Olina wildlife snorkel (6) | $995 | Whole boat | ~$166 |
The $350 charter at six people is the cheapest way onto a boat on this list. If your party is four or more and you do not need a guided snorkel briefing, it is very hard to beat.

Which coast are you sailing from?
Waikiki and Kewalo Basin for sunset cruises and reef snorkels — walkable from most Waikiki hotels. The parasail boats leave from the same stretch of Ala Moana Boulevard: Waikiki parasailing from $80, or a tandem flight with Diamond Head views at $89 per person.
Haleiwa on the North Shore for catamaran snorkel sails. These run in summer, because winter swell shuts that coast down. The two-hour sail at $79 runs only October to 14 December, the narrowest season of any trip here.
Hawaii Kai and Ko Olina for private charters, both a drive from Waikiki. Factor 20 to 30 minutes each way.
If snorkelling is the point
Book the morning catamaran at $139 for four hours rather than the afternoon version at the same $139 for three. Same price, an extra hour, and morning water is generally calmer and clearer. Both cap at 16 passengers.
For turtles specifically, Turtle Canyon off Waikiki is the reliable spot — see snorkeling on Oahu. If you dive rather than snorkel, the 3-tank charter is $635 across 10.5 hours.

If the evening is the point
The Waikiki tasting cruise is $105 per person with food prepared on board. The Hawaii Kai party charter is $500 for the whole boat, BYOB. We compare them properly in Oahu sunset cruises.
Short version: couples and small groups take the ticketed sail; five or more take the charter.
