WHO IT IS FOR
First-time surfers who would rather not learn in front of an audience. This is Po’okela’s private one-to-one lesson pitched specifically at beginners, covering the fundamentals from the ground up with the instructor’s attention on you for the whole session. At $250 it is the most expensive way to learn with Po’okela, and the reason to pay it is nerves or pace: nobody is waiting on you, and nothing is pitched at a group average. It is the direct counterpart to their intermediate and advanced private lesson, which costs the same but assumes you can already surf. Equipment and instruction are included; the meeting point is confirmed at booking.
Consider instead: if you can already stand and catch waves, book the intermediate and advanced private lesson – same price, completely different session. If one-to-one is more than you need, the semi-private lesson for two or three is $175. On the North Shore, Ohana’s 1:1 “Kapu” lesson is $225 and Go Nuts Hawaii’s is $239, both with a named beach and a stated duration.
