WHO IT IS FOR
Groups who want a private lesson at the lowest price listed here. At $90 for two hours, Hawaii Surfing Academy undercut every other private group lesson on this site, and they run it on the South Shore out of Honolulu rather than the North Shore – which matters in winter, when North Shore surf gets large and beginner lessons there are more often moved or cancelled. Two hours is the full standard lesson length rather than a shortened session, so the saving does not come out of your time in the water. The school states that it is compliant with Hawaii state laws and instructor certification requirements.
Consider instead: on the North Shore, Ohana’s private group lessons are $115 for three to five people and $120 for six to eight, from a named beach at Chun’s Reef with Red Cross CPR certified instructors. Also in Waikiki, Hans Hedemann’s group lesson is $100 for two hours if you do not need the group kept private.
