Grand Wailea Luau- Five-Star Aloha on South Maui's Most Beautiful Shore

In the Hawaiian language, Ali’i refers to chiefs and royalty, and the Ali’i Premium Seating tier at The Lu’au at Grand Wailea treats your party accordingly. Set at the Grand Wailea Resort in Wailea-Makena on Maui’s south shore, this VIP upgrade reserves the most coveted private tables in the venue, positioned for unobstructed views of both the stage and the golden sands of Wailea Beach. It is the closest thing to a front-row throne at a show USA Today’s 10Best named among the best luaus in Hawaii for 2025.

The experience itself follows the same celebrated arc as the wider luau, only from the best vantage point on the lawn. Interactive hula lessons open the evening and welcome guests of all ages into Hawaii’s living dance tradition. As the sun slides into the Pacific, performers take the stage to dramatize the island’s most enduring legends, including the exploits of the demigod Maui and the volcanic fury of Pele, backed by live music and traditional chant.

Dinner is a lavish three-course feast served family-style at your Ali’i table. Expect Ahi Poke, Poi Bowl, Ulu Mac Salad, Pipikaula, mixed greens, and Hawaiian sweet rolls with Lilikoi butter to start, followed by Teriyaki Steak, Shoyu Chicken, Mahimahi, Kalua Pig and Cabbage, Maui Chow Fun Noodles, rice, and Molokai sweet potatoes. Desserts from the resort pastry chef include Haupia, coconut macaroons, chocolate brownies, and Molokai sweet potato pie, with Hawaiian Paradise Coffee and teas on request. The hosted bar keeps Mai Tais, Pina Coladas, beer, wine, and soft drinks coming all night. A 2-guest minimum applies, groups above 8 should contact the venue, and Hawaii State Tax of 4.712% plus a 24% service charge are added to all prices.

Held on the grounds of the Grand Wailea Resort in Wailea-Makena on Maui’s sunny south shore, The Lu’au at Grand Wailea pairs one of the island’s most beautiful beachfront settings with a show that earned a spot on USA Today’s 10Best list for Best Luau in Hawaii in 2025. Standard Seating means your group is never squeezed onto a shared banquet table. Every party receives its own private table with a clear view of Wailea Beach, so the sunset, the stage, and the feast all belong to you.

The evening opens with a warm aloha welcome before interactive hula lessons invite guests of every age onto the lawn to learn the basics of Hawaii’s storytelling dance. As dusk settles over the coastline, the stage lights up with a theatrical journey through Maui’s origin stories, from the demigod Maui snaring the sun to Pele shaping the islands with volcanic fire, performed with live music, chant, and dance.
