WHAT IS THE CAPTAIN’S SELF-GUIDED AUDIO TOUR?
It is the National Park Service audio tour you collect at the Narrated Tour Desk and carry around the site yourself. No coach, no group, no fixed departure. You press play and move at your own speed through the Visitor Center, the two museums and the shoreline. The Captain’s tier is the complete version: all 29 stops, audio only, no virtual reality.
What makes it worth the handset is who is talking. Jamie Lee Curtis narrates, but the substance comes from NPS historians and from Pearl Harbor survivors recorded before their accounts were lost, carried on archival audio and period imagery. Standing at the shoreline hearing a man describe the morning he lived through, at the spot where it happened, does something a placard cannot. Hawaiians called this water Puʻuloa long before December 7, 1941, and the moʻolelo of the harbor runs centuries deeper than the attack.
HOW IT RUNS
Check in with your confirmation at the USS Arizona Memorial Narrated Tour Desk, in the courtyard of the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, far left as you enter. Check-in is open from 7am to 3:30pm, and the Visitor Center closes at 5pm. The confirmation email runs to several pages; print and bring all of them. You then move through the museums, the grounds and the shoreline at your own pace, with videos and USS Arizona Memorial library photos included on the device. The Visitor Center has a no-bag policy: bring your wallet, camera, phone and water, and use the paid bag storage outside the main gate for anything else. Parking is $7 a day.
PRICING
$14 per adult (13 and up) and $9 per child aged 4 to 12. Verified against the FareHarbor price API, September 2026. Confirm current rates at booking. This page books the Captain’s tier. USS Arizona Memorial boat tickets are separate, at $1 each on recreation.gov.

WHO IT IS FOR
Independent visitors who would rather set their own pace than follow a guide, and anyone who has already done a coach tour and wants the depth a quick stop cannot give. The tour runs in seven languages (English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, German and Spanish), which makes it one of the better options for visitors poorly served by English-only guided tours. Families short on time may prefer the shorter Chief’s version.
