WHAT THE SURF LESSON INVOLVES
Our group lessons are designed for 3+ students. All lessons include detailed instruction about surfing etiquette, wave selection, and respecting the oceans’ delicate ecosystem. We honor student to instructor ratio of 3:1. If you are a group of three or more and prefer to have an instructor dedicated to your group only, please see the Private Group Lesson item option.
HOW IT RUNS
You meet at North Shore Ohana School of Surfing – Chuns Reef Beach, Chuns Reef Beach, Haleiwa, HI, 96712. Your lesson will be led by a professional Red Cross CPR certified instructor with years of North Shore ocean knowledge to ensure that your experience is safe, fun, exciting and full of laughs and smiles. This 90-minute experience consists of a land lesson, safety briefing g, ocean reading knowledge, along with surfing etiquette. Followed with a lot of wave riding! Leaving you all with smiles and a fun shared memory to take home.

WHO IT IS FOR
Adults who are reasonably comfortable in water and want the lowest-priced lesson on the North Shore. The ratio is 3:1 and groups run from three to six surfers, so you are corrected in rotation rather than continuously – that is the trade you are making for the price. Minimum age is 16. The lesson runs 90 minutes at North Shore Ohana School of Surfing, Chun’s Reef Beach, Haleiwa, HI 96712, led by a Red Cross CPR certified instructor, and covers surfing etiquette, wave selection and respecting the ocean’s ecosystem as well as getting you standing. Boards, leashes and rash guards are included.
Consider instead: if there are three or more of you and you want an instructor dedicated to your group alone, book Ohana’s Private Group lesson rather than joining an open one. For undivided attention, the same school’s 1:1 “Kapu” lesson is $225. Under 16s cannot join this lesson – Ohana’s keiki tandem lesson takes younger children.
