WHAT THE SURF LESSON INVOLVES
When you book a private group surf lesson, your instructor(s) is exclusive to YOUR party. Your instructor is dedicated to personalizing your group experience and catering to your group’s individual needs. This lesson is great for large groups, wedding parties, family reunions, conference groups, etc. The student to instructor ratio will be determined at the time of booking based on your group’s size.
HOW IT RUNS
You meet at North Shore Ohana School of Surfing – Chuns Reef Beach, Chuns Reef Beach, Haleiwa, HI, 96712. Group size is up to 8 guests, minimum 6. Your lesson will be led by a professional Red Cross CPR certified instructor with years of North Shore ocean knowledge to ensure that your experience is safe, fun, exciting and full of laughs and smiles. This 1.5 & or 2-hour experience consists of a land lesson how to stand up, safety briefing, surfing etiquette along with how we will be catching the most waves possible all while staying safe and having FUN! All Gear provided rash guard, leash and softtop or epoxy surfboard. No previous experience required.

WHO IT IS FOR
Groups of six to eight people who want the instruction team to themselves. Six is the minimum and eight the maximum, and the student-to-instructor ratio is set at the time of booking once North Shore Ohana know your numbers. Unlike an open group lesson, nobody outside your party joins you. The session runs 1.5 or 2 hours at Chun’s Reef Beach, Haleiwa, HI 96712, led by a Red Cross CPR certified instructor, and covers a land lesson on standing up, a safety briefing and surfing etiquette before the wave riding. Minimum age is 7, no previous experience is needed, and rash guard, leash and a softtop or epoxy board are provided. Ohana specifically aim this lesson at wedding parties, family reunions and conference groups.
Consider instead: if there are three to five of you, the 3-5 private group lesson is $115. Nine or more and the 9+ “Ohana” package drops to $95. If you are fewer than six and do not mind sharing with strangers, the open group lesson is $120 at a 3:1 ratio, ages 16 and up.
