QUICK ANSWER
Kahalu’u Bay Surf and Sea Epoxy Surfboard Rental: one of the largest rental ranges on the Big Island, 5ft to 11ft.
Price: $25.00 for 2 hours · $125.00 for a week · confirm current rates at booking
Duration: 2 hours to 7 days
Island: Big Island (Kailua-Kona)
Best for: Surfers who want a lighter, livelier board than foam
Booking: instant confirmation.
WHY EPOXY RATHER THAN FOAM
Epoxy boards are stiffer, lighter and noticeably faster than soft-tops, which is what you want once you are past the pushing-into-whitewater stage and are paddling for unbroken waves yourself. They are also less forgiving on contact, which is why the foam range exists alongside them at a lower price.
The shop keeps sizes from 5ft up to 11ft, so the same rental covers a shortboard for an experienced surfer and a longboard for someone still working on trim.

HOW PICKUP WORKS
Boards can be collected from the shop any time between 9am and 4pm and must be returned during business hours, 8:30am to 5pm. For a 2-hour rental the latest pickup is 2pm; for a 4-hour rental it is 12pm. Three-day and weekly rentals include free roof racks for any vehicle, and you can swap boards during the rental period.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
– Rentals are priced per board, not per person
– Latest pickup is 2pm for a 2-hour rental and 12pm for a 4-hour rental
– Three-day and weekly rentals include free roof racks
– Board swaps are allowed during longer rentals
– A liability waiver and a credit card for the damage deposit are required at pickup
WHO IT IS FOR
Surfers who already stand up and want a proper board rather than a soft-top. Complete beginners are better served by the foam range or a lesson at Kahalu’u Bay.
